| Project Description |
|
As a result of the growing abuse and trafficking of Vietnamese nationals in Taiwan, a number of Vietnamese Catholic priests and sisters began to offer assistance to help these victims bring their perpetrators to justice. These priests settled in Taiwan for missionary work over a decade ago, mostly from the US and Australia. As a result, they are fluent in spoken and written Mandarin, and have credibility among the local Taiwanese community. |

The Vietnamese Alliance to Combat Trafficking (VietACT) was formed in August 2004 by concerned individuals in direct response to the enslavement and human trafficking of Vietnamese nationals in Taiwan. VietACT aims to bring greater public awareness to the issue of human trafficking and to advocate for policy changes in both origin and destination countries to protect the rights and human dignity of the individuals involved. |

| How You Can Help |
|
DO something to MAKE A DIFFERENCE! TaiwanACT depends largely on volunteers and individual donations to keep us going. We need help to further develop and maintain our web site, write/translate articles, the list goes on... We also need donations of clothing, Vietnamese books, and furniture for victims living in our shelter while they wait for their case to be resolved. |
